About Stage Konepaja
Stage Konepaja is a two-stage theater and event venue maintained by Universum, a theater collective formed by four professional theaters – Aurinkotatteri, Teater Mars, Sirius Teatern and Teatteri Venus.
In addition to these four theatre groups, Stage Konepaja’s repertoire is produced by our artistical partners: Höyhentämö, Liisa Pentti +Co, Teatteri Metamorfoosi, Red Nose Company, Porttiteatteri, Post Theatre Collective, Teatteri Quo Vadis, Stjärnfall sekä Unga Teatern.
The property is owned by Train Factory Oy. Music gigs and talkshows are planned together with Train Factory and the bar operating in the theater lobby.
Our core idea is that each participating community brings its own unique contribution to the artistic environment. Universum ry is responsible for organizing the support services required by the performances, such as ticket sales and stage technology, and rents out performance spaces to artistical partners and visitors. Universum does not make a profit by subletting to other artists. The ticket revenue from the performance always goes fully to the organizer of the performance.
An important goal is to ensure good working conditions for everyone who share the spaces in different ways and to bring a significant performance context to the performing arts field in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, supporting the realization of strange, unpredictable and different content.
